The Torkelson's Visit

Last week, my older cousin Nina, her family and mother came to LA for a visit. Her sister Jane lives here and actually works only a few blocks from where I work. I haven't seen Nina in nearly a decade and certainly never seen her husband or child in person. We get the usual announcements that includes photos, but it was very fun to actually MEET these people in person.
Well, I got to meet them Saturday night for supper with my uncle's family
Tom is a very well spoken high lvl administrator for a charter school system, similar to a Superintendent. I was thoroughly impressed, he is so young!!! He really does seem well educated and genuine. I mean that in, there's polite interest and there's real interest in the talker and he really seem to listen well.
Little Lincoln grew quite a bit from his baby photos. He's 2 years old now and a bundle of energy, even if he did miss his nap. He really smart to boot! We all met up at the boba shop my younger cousin works at and Lincoln was playing with the left over boba in his mother's cup. He accidentally sucked up the boba and spit it back out. It dropped to the floor and he was going to put it back into the cup but I stopped him and ask him to give it to me. (hey, I may not know much about kids but at least I know they shouldn't be putting dirty food in their active play thing) The next time it happened he actually picked the boba up and handed it to me by himself without asking! such a smart young man! Most of the young children I've ever encountered seem to have zero attention span and to remember something such as "ooo, this dropped on the floor I shouldn't eat it and should give it to that lady over there who asked for it last time" was none existent. So for Lincoln to remember something like this, I'm impressed. I hear that he's tri-lingual to boot!

The night was cut short because the family were flying out the next morning and had more packing to do. I hope I get to see young Lincoln again before he's all grown up. Maybe when Nina's second is born. . .
